But if the idea really gets you going, then go for it. I'd recommend getting a summer job that's related and seeing how you like it - I worked at Sir Speedy, for instance, doing paste up and layout for a summer. That was enough to let me know I didn't want to spend my life doing paste up and layout! So I switched my major from graphic design to fine art. Of course I graduated from college and went straight into graphic design, because how much am I going to get paid to do fine art? But no paste up and layout! Only multimedia - WYSIWYG. And working my way into the world of 3D, which I find much more interesting. I highly recommend concentrating on learning the right software, like Photoshop and Illustrator and the page layout program of your choice, as well as composition.
